Project Description

The Internet Security Threat Report (ISTR) was Symantec’s flagship annual publication—a comprehensive deep-dive into global cybersecurity threats, trends, and insights from the previous year. Think of it as the “state of the union” for the security industry.

For FY2016, I developed a series of infographics to support the report’s release, transforming dense threat intelligence into visually engaging content that could travel across Symantec’s marketing ecosystem. This wasn’t just about making things prettier—it was about making critical security insights actually land with our audiences.

Project Objective

Create a cohesive infographic series that distills the ISTR’s most important themes into shareable, multi-channel assets. The goal was to elevate the visual storytelling of our top marketing collateral, drive engagement across print, digital, video, and tactile touchpoints, and position Symantec as a thought leader whose content people genuinely want to consume—not just skim past.

Situation

At Symantec—a global leader in cybersecurity—I worked within the Creative Services department under the direction of our Senior Creative Director. The ISTR was one of our most important marketing assets.

The existing visual approach wasn’t doing the content justice. The material was dense, data-heavy, and needed a creative refresh to actually connect with audiences.

Task

I was brought on to create a series of infographics highlighting the top themes from the FY2016 report. My job was to transform complex cybersecurity data into visually compelling content that could work across multiple channels.

I owned the full creative process: research, concept development, drafts, and final design.

Action

I dove deep into the source material, pulling data from the ISTR itself, Symantec datasheets, internal customer presentations, and insights from other cybersecurity thought leaders.

From there, I developed concepts that balanced visual impact with clarity—making sure the information was accessible without dumbing it down.

I worked through multiple rounds of drafts, refining the visual language until every asset was pixel-perfect and ready for our 360 marketing production cycle.

Results

The infographic series became a cornerstone of that year’s ISTR marketing push, supporting company-wide initiatives across channels.

The refreshed approach brought energy and visual sophistication to content that had previously felt flat—turning data-heavy material into something people actually wanted to engage with.
